"Who Controls the Seasons?"

"A Time to Laugh"

This past week has been full of laughs as some of my family spent time in Florida together. We were having so much fun going from swimming pools to amusement parks in Tampa and Orlando Florida with my daughter and five of her cousins. We were able to spend a whole week together in the Sunshine State and there were places to go like Bush Gardens, Sea World and Downtown Disney! They were all full of fascinating rides and exhibits and it seemed like the children were going to burst with excitement. Naturally the joy spilled over to all of us parents too as we saw the laughter and dancing that came with the experience of, as they called it, "Feeling the Magic"!

I was beginning to loosen up and feel the laughter bubbling inside as it made its way to my vocal cords to expose itself in the form of a crazy explosion coming out in a strange high pitched sound of "ha ha ha ha ha"!

It's not really a language because I noticed that people from all parts of the earth were doing exactly the same thing! Yet they weren't speaking my language at all. I noticed that we all seem to have a laugh sound that is almost as distinct as our voices or our finger prints.

I really just wanted us all to think about something that we may take for granted or not even realize and that is that God created us to laugh and wants us to laugh; especially at our mistakes or our misinterpretation of things when we are learning about our relationship with God. Let's try not to get so serious that we forget to laugh at our mistakes! If we don't do this we'll probably be walking around in a state of depression and frowning all of the time!
Let's read a verse from Ecclesiastes,

Ecc 3:1 To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:

It says that there is a season! Realize that we have no power over the seasons. Seasons control what we can and can't do! Just think about that for a minute.

Let's read as we skip to verse four,

Ecc 3:4 A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance;

It must have been the season for laughing and dancing in my life and the life of the children that we took with us this past week because it was impossible to not laugh along with them. I have had my seasons when I couldn't laugh much and I have had the seasons when all it seemed that I did was worked and slept. Have you?

God has a sense of humor or He wouldn't have made us this way! When your season of laughing and dancing comes, don't hold back! Let it bubble its way to the vocal cords to burst out in your own unique sounding ha ha ha ha ha and feel the joy of the moment. God meant for us to experience the moments of our lives in it's season. Remember, you can't change the season and the season's for a reason!

Join me next time as we look at a passage where God actually takes the mistake of someone and uses humor to teach him about the power of God!

Let's pray,

Our Father in heaven, I thank you for the season of laughter in our lives and the joy that comes with it! Teach me to accept the seasons and to enjoy the time of harvest asa well as the time of planting and growing. Show me your purpose along with the seasons in life as I seek to do your will each day. Amen.
