"It Shall Come to Pass"

The Notable Day of the Lord

Events from years gone by have become today's news. It is amazing how the apostle Peter broadcast the reminders of recorded sayings of the prophet Joel in Acts following the death, resurrection and ascending of Jesus at mount Zion. The prophet Joel had prophesied in the Book of Joel of the Old Testament and had died and was buried but Peter was still talking about him because of the things that were prophesied by Joel. These things were coming to pass even then at the time of the Passover. The other apostles had been filled with the Holy Ghost and were able to speak in the languages of all of the different nations that were at this event! This was unbelievable to these men from all nations to see. Peter was telling them that this wasn't anything. They would also see many more wonders in the days ahead.

Acts 2:16 But this is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel;
17 And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams:
18 And on my servants and on my handmaidens I will pour out in those days of my Spirit; and they shall prophesy:
19 And I will shew wonders in heaven above, and signs in the earth beneath; blood, and fire, and vapour of smoke:
Today we have the capability to look far into space with the telescopes we have in orbit and this week scientists are talking about the signs of two planets smashing into each other thousands of years ago because of the distance that they are from us and the time it would take for us to have been able to see this moving debris that resulted from the collision. Well, how about that! That means that the apostles may have seen huge flashes of light in the sky at night and comets just like we are seeing now!

I'd like to look at some of the recent news flashing across the Internet this morning since about 5:00 AM.

Reflect on the prophecy of verse nineteen as you read the most recent events and findings.

"Two distant planets orbiting a young star apparently smashed into each other at high speeds thousands of years ago in a cosmic pileup of cataclysmic proportions, astronomers announced Monday. "

"Telltale plumes of vaporized rock and lava leftover from the collision revealed its existence to NASA's Spitzer Space Telescope, which picked up signatures from the impact in recent observations."

"The two-planet pileup occurred within the last few thousand years or so - a relatively recent cosmic time frame. The smaller of the two bodies - a planet about the size of Earth's moon, according to computer models - was apparently destroyed by the crash. The other was most likely a Mercury-sized-planet and survived, albeit severely dented."

"This collision had to be huge and incredibly high-speed for rock to have been vaporized and melted," said Carey Lisse of the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory in Maryland, lead author of a paper describing the findings in the Aug. 20 issue of the Astrophysical Journal.

Are these not wonders in the heavens above? How can man not see this prophecy except that he be ignorant of the truth?

Next we look at the signs in the earth beneath with the first being blood. Let's look at what has happened just in the past few days.

Major bombings in Iraq since Jan. 1, when a new U.S.-Iraqi security pact took effect:
• Aug. 10 — Double truck bombing on eastern outskirts of Mosul, killing 28. Bombings in Baghdad kill 22.
• Aug. 7 — Suicide truck bomber strikes a Shiite mosque north of Mosul, killing 44. Bombings against Shiite pilgrims in Baghdad kill seven.
• July 9 — Two suicide bombers strike in northern city of Tal Afar, killing 38 people.
• July 9 — Four separate bombings in Baghdad kill 18.
• July 8 — Car bombs explodes in two Shiite villages near Mosul, killing 16.
• June 30 — Car bomb hits crowded outdoor market in the northern city of Kirkuk, killing 27.
• June 26 — Booby-trapped motorcycle explodes in a motorcycle bazaar, killing 19.
• June 24 — Bomb rips through crowded market in Baghdad's Sadr City, killing 78.
• June 20 — Truck bomb explodes near a Shiite mosque in Taza, near Kirkuk, killing 82.

These are just a partial list of the events/deaths in recent days pertaining to the middle-east. Many more die daily across our globe in conflicts as prophesied! The list goes on and on!

The fire that was prophesied is literally translated in the Greek as the word "lightning" and the Greek word is "pur", pronounced poor. Look for the source of lightening and you will certainly find yourself researching storms before long. Let's look at some recent news concerning storms.

Tropical Storm Felicia is expected to cause localized flooding in Hawaii as it hits Tuesday, forecasters said.

6 dead,16 still missing from tropical storm Goni in south China
Tropical storm Goni has left six dead and another 16 missing as of Tuesday in south China's island province of Hainan, the provincial emergency management office said.

The first effects of Tropical Storm Felicia have started to hit Hawaii. Large waves began crashing against the shore in Oahu Monday afternoon.

An approaching tropical storm triggered mudslides and floods in Japan, killing at least 10 people, local officials said on Monday, bringing weather-related deaths in northeast Asia to at least 34 people in the past few days. Tropical storm Etau is nearing Japan after typhoon Morakot battered the Philippines, Taiwan and China, killing at least 24 and damaging houses and farms.

As if all of that wasn't enough, this news was just posted on Yahoo news in the last fifty minutes.

"A tropical depression in the Atlantic has yet to strengthen but forecasters say it could become a tropical storm in the next few days."

Is there any question that we are experiencing the lightning and storms like never before?

The last sign prophesied here was the vapour of smoke. The word vapour in the Greek is "atmis" which literally means "mist". Knowing this, I feel that the prophecy is that of earthquakes and some Bible scholars feel it would be the smoke left behind following a battle between enemies. If the latter is the case, it really sounds allot like the way that our modern day weapons work, releasing a gas into the air that damages the nerves, eyes and skin. Lets look at some events in the news concerning this.

The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology recorded Tuesday the highest volume of gas emission from Mayon Volcano at 2,153 tons per day since the alert level was raised on July 3.

Cliff's Weather Gems
I've received several e-mails and phone calls lately from concerned subscribers worried about the possible dire effects locally that we would suffer if the massive SUPERVOLCANO in Yellowstone National Park were to suddenly erupt with at least 1,000 times the force of the May 18, 1980, eruption of Mount St. Helens in Washington state when our daytime skies turned 'black as night.'

When ‘lola’ met Salceda: local officials share secrets of economic success
Year after year, typhoons from the Pacific Ocean and the threat of eruptions from Mayon volcano have made Albay a disaster-prone province, so the local government decided to go for a long-term solution: move affected households and businesses to safer areas instead of evacuating and rebuilding communities all the time.

Next let's look at the news concerning the sun..

According to Wikipedia's website; an annular eclipse occurs when the Sun and Moon are exactly in line, ..... An annular eclipse of the Sun occurred at Sardis on February 17, 478 BC, ...
The solar eclipse of 22 July 2009 was the longest total solar eclipse during the 21st century, not to be surpassed until June 2132.[1] It lasted a maximum of 6 minutes and 39 seconds off the coast of Southeast Asia,[2] causing tourist interest in eastern China, Japan, India and Nepal.[2]HYPERLINK \l "cite_note-Xinhua14-2"[3]HYPERLINK \l "cite_note-3"[4] This was the second in the series of three eclipses in a one-month period, with two minor penumbral lunar eclipses, first on July 7 and last on August 6.

This also posted in the Wikipedia online.
May 19, 1780, stands in history as "The Dark Day." Since the time of Moses, no period of darkness of equal density, extent, and duration has ever been recorded. "The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and the terrible day of the Lord come." Joel 2:31.The moon became as red as blood on the night of the "dark day," May 19, 1780. Milo Bostick in Stone's History of Massachusetts says, "The moon which was at its full, had the appearance of blood."

There are many other signs and indications that we may very well be living in the time that Peter refers to in this passage as "the notable day of the Lord".

That is why I tell you today as Peter did in verse twenty-one, that whosoever will call on the name of the Lord will be saved.

Acts 2:20 The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before that great and notable day of the Lord come:
Act 2:21 And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved.

If you have already called on the name of the Lord for your protection and salvation; share with those you love today so that they too will be ready when the notable day of the Lord's return comes.

John 3:16 - For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son , that whosoever believes in Him will not perish, but have eternal life.
